How NameByStars handles form details, browser storage, share links, service logs, and external resources without requiring an account.

Scope and principles

NameByStars is designed to work without user accounts, profiles, or a permanent database of birth details. We collect only what is needed to produce the page a visitor requests and avoid asking for identity documents or unrelated sensitive information.

This policy describes the website at namebystars.com. A separate website reached through an external link has its own privacy practices.

Personalized forms

Baby-name, name-correction, numerology, and astrology forms may process a name, date of birth, time of birth, location, and preferences in server memory for the current request. The application does not intentionally write those submissions to an external database or create a permanent user profile.

Ordinary web-server and platform logs may record technical request information needed for security and reliability. The application avoids intentionally logging complete sensitive query strings. Do not submit information that is not needed for the calculation.

Share links

A personalized result is not placed in a public URL automatically. When a visitor explicitly chooses Share, the interface explains that the generated signed URL contains the permitted fields needed to recreate the result. Anyone who receives that link may view those details.

Shared result URLs are marked noindex, are excluded from XML sitemaps, and are disallowed in robots guidance. The signed token protects integrity, not secrecy: possession of the link is sufficient to open it. Do not share a personalized link more widely than intended.

Cookies and local browser storage

A short-lived session cookie supports form security such as CSRF protection. It is configured as HttpOnly and SameSite Lax. The website may use localStorage for the selected theme, language preference, saved names, compare lists, and non-sensitive interface choices.

These browser values stay on the device unless the browser or an extension synchronizes them. Clearing site data removes them. NameByStars does not claim that no browser storage exists when these features are used.

Third-party requests and external links

When a city is not found in the embedded fallback list, the server may request a place lookup from OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service using the entered place text. The lookup has a timeout and cached result, and failure does not stop core pages from working.

Links to PlanetPosition or social sharing destinations open those external services only when the visitor activates them. NameByStars does not load their advertising or sharing SDKs on ordinary pages.

Security, retention, and questions

Security headers, input limits, escaping, signed share data, and server-side validation reduce common risks, but no internet service can promise absolute security. Keep copies of anything important and avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive data.
