Accessibility

The accessibility practices built into NameByStars and how to report a barrier that prevents you from using a name page or tool.

Our approach

NameByStars aims for strong WCAG-style accessibility across mobile and desktop layouts. Accessibility is treated as part of design and engineering rather than an overlay.

The site uses semantic landmarks, a skip link, logical headings, labeled form controls, visible focus indicators, sufficient contrast, large touch targets, and text explanations that do not depend only on color.

Keyboard, screen-reader, and motion support

Navigation, menus, forms, details panels, modals, saved-name controls, and result links are designed for keyboard use. Dialog controls include labels and Escape closes the share dialog.

Animations are restrained, and the stylesheet honors reduced-motion preferences. Inline SVG branding is decorative where appropriate and does not replace essential text.

Forms and errors

Inputs have programmatic labels, reasonable autocomplete values, server-side validation, and visible error messages. Quick fields appear first and optional technical fields are placed behind progressive disclosure.

A result does not rely on an animated gauge or color alone: percentages, factor names, explanations, and caveats are written in text.

Languages and known limits

The language selector uses native-script labels where practical and the document language and direction are set from the selected interface language. Some long-form editorial content is currently available only in English; a localized navigation choice should not be mistaken for a fully translated article.

Pronunciation notation, complex native-script forms, and third-party pages may have accessibility limitations outside our direct control.

Report a barrier

Email the page URL, the task you were trying to complete, assistive technology and browser if relevant, and what happened. A concise description is more useful than sensitive personal information.
