Frequently Asked Questions

How name records, recommendations, astrology, numerology, privacy, and corrections work on NameByStars.

Are astrology and numerology scientifically proven?

No. NameByStars presents them as cultural, spiritual, and entertainment frameworks. Calculations can be deterministic, but their personality and future interpretations are not scientific diagnoses or guarantees.

What does a name match percentage mean?

It is a normalized score inside the NameByStars model. Depending on the information supplied, it can combine language, culture, gender usage, sound, meaning, style, length, numerology, surname, and optional astrology factors. It is not a probability of success.

See the scoring methodology

How do you handle uncertain name meanings?

The record should identify uncertainty, competing roots, modern associations, or character-dependent meanings instead of inventing one fixed explanation. Readers can submit corrections with reliable linguistic context.

Does the site contain every name in the world?

No. It contains more than 10,000 canonical pages across a curated linguistic tier and a broad multilingual reference tier, but it does not claim complete worldwide coverage. Every page identifies its research status, and unsupported meanings are left unverified rather than generated.

Can I use astrology without an exact birth time?

Yes, with limits. Date-based planet positions and a date-based Sun sign can still be shown. The Ascendant, houses, and time-sensitive boundaries are withheld or clearly marked as uncertain, and a midday estimate is disclosed.

Why does the tool ask for a city instead of coordinates?

A city is easier for most people. The server first checks an embedded fallback list, then can use a time-limited place lookup. Advanced fields allow manual latitude, longitude, and IANA timezone when a place is ambiguous or not found.

Does choosing a religion automatically choose astrology?

No. Cultural or religious preference filters appropriate names and naming context. Astrology and numerology are separate optional choices, and the site does not claim that a religion officially endorses a system when it does not.

Will the correction tool add random letters to reach 100 percent?

No. It ranks established variants and related canonical records while rewarding recognizable spelling, pronunciation, language, culture, and protected letters. If no natural top-band option exists, the result says so rather than forcing one.

Are birth details stored permanently?

The application processes form details for the current request and does not intentionally write them to an external user database. An explicit share link contains permitted fields needed to recreate the result, so anyone with that link can view them.

Read the Privacy Policy

Can a personalized share result appear in search engines?

Shared and submitted personalized result pages are marked noindex, excluded from XML sitemaps, and disallowed in robots guidance. No technical control can guarantee that another person will not repost information from a link you give them.

Where are saved names and compare lists kept?

They are stored in localStorage in the current browser as canonical name slugs. There is no account sync in this version, and clearing site data removes them.

Read the browser storage policy

How do I report an incorrect meaning or pronunciation?

Use the Contact page and include the exact page, disputed field, proposed correction, language or regional context, and a source that can be independently reviewed. The form opens your email application rather than pretending a backend sent it.
